FRESNO, Calif.  - Jose Ramirez, the pride of California’s Central Valley, was scheduled to  make the first defense of his World Boxing Council (WBC) super lightweight title in a fight against Danny O’Connor at the Save Mart Center tomorrow. At the official weigh-in today it was determined that O’Connor was not medically fit to fight. Although the title fight is cancelled the rest of the event will go on as planned and will air live on ESPN.  Although Jose will not be fighting, he will be in attendance and is encouraging fans to come out and support the event.

Appearing on the undercard in a six-round special attraction will be blue chip prospect Gabe Flores Jr. of Stockton, Calif., who turned pro as a 16-year-old in November 2016, becoming the youngest fighter ever to do so in the United States. This will be the first professional fight for the undefeated Flores in California.
